Start and Finish Directions

Start- Whitehorse Creek Overlook

The start of the race will begin on the rim of the the Whitehorse Creek with vast views of the wilderness study area and the Wind River Mountains.

From Highway 28, head south east (away from the mountains) on to Oregon Buttes Road. Continue on the road for about 6 miles. Please park on Oregon Buttes Road and walk in 0.4 miles to the start, following the directions of the parking volunteers.

Be sure to fuel up with gas in either Lander or Farson. There is no gas station on South Pass.

Finish- South Pass City Historic Site

The races will finish in the historic South Pass City, about a 30 minute drive from the start. From Highway 28, turn south east onto South Pass City Road. Continue on the road for about 2.5 miles and park in the main lot, to your left.

South Pass offers many exhibits for families and crews to enjoy while racers are enjoying their race. Entry to the State Historic Site will be waived for Wyoming Public Lands Day, however, please consider making a donation.

Shuttle and Ride Shares

If you are unable to drive with a crew to the start of the race at Whitehorse Creek Overlook, please use this form to signup for the shuttle or offer a ride share. The shuttle will leave South Pass City at the specified times listed in the form. Spots are limited for racers only. Please only signup up if you do not have a crew.  Please arrive early and meet the shuttle next to the Visitor Center/Dance Hall. In the case of the shuttle signup reaching capacity, other fellow racers with crew may volunteer to offer a ride share. Please signup if you are willing to offer a ride from South Pass City to Whitehorse Creek Overlook. Contact information will be shared between racers who can offer rides and racers who need a ride. Drop bags for warm layers can be left at the start and we will transport them to the finish.
