Welcome to South Pass City, WY
Gateway to the Red Desert
South Pass City is a town rich in natural and human history.
South Pass City resident, Esther Hobart Morris, was appointed the town's Justice of the Peace, and in so doing, became the first woman to hold political office in the United States. These events ultimately set the stage for women's suffrage in the U.S., with the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920.
