Weather

Run the Red takes place in a high desert environment, at an average elevation of nearly 7,500’. Runners should be prepared for weather that ranges from (1) hot and sunny to (2) cold and snowy — and single-day swings between the two extremes.

To highlight this point, we’ve shown race-day weather for South Pass City from 2018 through 2020. In 2019, portions of the course, at higher elevations, had snow and sleet.

Come Prepared

Irrespective of the forecast, come prepared for any and all conditions

Two days before the race, the forecast might call for bluebird skies and day-time highs of 68 degrees — don’t be fooled! Runners (and their friends, family and supporters) should pack for all conditions.
